“Tit for tat” (suite) … still not funny

Following Iran’s confiscation of two Greek owned tankers as retaliation to seizure by Greek authorities of a Russia-flagged Suezmax tanker in Greek waters, Greece’s shipping ministry has advised the country’s ships to avoid Iranian territorial waters when crossing the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.

In fact, Iran relayed through their media news agency that 17 other Greek tankers were in the Gulf waters and could be seized if “Greece continued its games”, in reference to the seizure by Greek authorities of a Russian-flagged tanker which was allegedly carrying sanctioned Iranian crude oil.

One can only imagine the stress and hardship that both seized ships’ crews are going through whilst these exchanges are ongoing, and the only hope is that they can safely return to their normal daily life soon.
